Tabla for Blind kids orchestra
While One of the institutions that we support locally is Sri Shirdi Sai Deenajana Seva Samithi (School
for the blind and disabled). The management encourages the kids there to participate in a lot of
extra curricular and service activities, while also pursuing their academic studies. Children learn
music, yoga, cooking etc. They also donate blood, do poor feeding, distribute blankets etc within
their limits.
In the past, we had supported their academic education as well as some of their other activities by
presenting laptops, paying for the fee etc. Over the years, the kids learning music have gained enough
expertise to form an orchestra and are now able to perform light music items at school functions etc. In
addition to the existing instruments like keyboard, drums etc, they now needed a Tabla.
So we bought a new Tabla for the kids, with loving support from close friends. On Jan 7th 2018,
the school was celebrating Louis Braille's birthday and in that function, we presented the new Tabla to
the school and one of the kids named Ayyappa played it so beautifully on that day!
